Coronavirus: Crime continues during pandemic, but with different offenses, police say

XENIA — Crime doesn’t stop, even during a pandemic, but police said the types of crimes have changed amid all the changes during the coronavirus outbreak.

A video posted on Xenia Police Division’s Facebook page shows two men going through an unlocked car on Jenny Marie Drive. The camera captured two minutes of video showing the men sifting through at one vehicle before they ran off.

Two weeks ago someone burglarized Dr. Robert D. Boike's Chiropractor office on Bellbrook Avenue.

Police say they discovered paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap, hand sanitizer and loose change missing.

Sgt. Scott Beegle told News Center 7, "Very odd that someone would break into a chiropractor's office to steal paper products. hand soap and sanitizer. Very out of the normal for us. Very unusual for us."

Last week police say juveniles vandalized St. Brigid Catholic Church on Fairground Road.

Police say they recovered most of the items that were stolen, including two golf carts. The church had to cancel online services last week but was able to hold an online mass for Easter.
