Railroad crossing repairs by CSX, the tracks west of the Great Miami River, began Monday morning and resulted in the closure of two locations: Linden Avenue between S. Riverview Avenue and S. Miami Avenue, and Upper River Road between Soldiers Home Road and Farmersville-West Carrollton Road.
There are signed detours posted at both locations, and will be closed for most or all of this week.
These closures also have an impact on residents with their daily commute and business.
“It’s going to cost us more gas, just driving around, it’s going to cost us more gas,” said Supervisor of Swordfish Lawn Service Derek Baldwin.
Between existing road closures and the two new ones, Baldwin says they’re having to navigate their way through town. “It kind of makes it a pain,” he said. “We have to go all the way around and now we can’t go on this bridge, so... we’re trying to get out here and get our lawns mowed, take care of everybody, and it makes it that much more harder when the roads are closed.”
Baldwin still worries multiple days filled with detours could add up. “By the time you add it up, to and from, there goes a whole hour,” he said.
