Troopers investigating fatal crash in New Bremen

AUGLAIZE COUNTY — Troopers from the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal crash that happened on Amsterdam Road and Tri-Township Road around 1:30 p.m. Jan. 19.

Initial investigation showed that a car driven by Ruby Greiwe, 93, was traveling east on Amsterdam Road when it traveled into the westbound lanes and overcorrected, traveling off the right side of the roadway.

The car then continued into a field, struck an embankment, went airborne and overturned. The car sustained severe disabling damage, OSP said in a release.

Greiwe was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin has been notified.

OSP was assisted on scene by several agencies including Auglaize Sheriff’s office, New Bremen Police Department, Minster-Jackson Township Fire Department and Auglaize County Road Department.

Greiwe was not wearing a properly adjusted seatbelt OSP Said.

The crash remains under investigation.
