— Dayton has now seen 22 90-degree days, Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Kirstie Zontini said.
Dayton tied a record for the warmest low on Wednesday when the temperature never dropped below 72 degrees, which was the old record set in 2013, Zontini said.
On Tuesday, the Dayton International Airport hit 94 degrees. Wednesday, the heat continued when Dayton hit 93 degrees. Both days were close to the record of 98 degrees for each day. Thursday was 93 degrees, which is the third 90-degree day in a row this week.
Check out how hot it got in your neighborhood on Tuesday:
A heat wave is classified as three consecutive 90 degree or warmer days. This week we have the chance of seeing another heat wave. Dayton saw a heat wave in August, two heat waves in July and one in June. This year, there have been 22 90-degree days, which is more than normal for the year.
Fall officially begins with the autumnal equinox on Sept.23. The Climate Prediction Center and your Storm Center 7 team are showing a high chance of staying warmer than normal through the end of summer.
