179th Greene County Fair runs this week

The 179th Greene County Fair began Sunday in Xenia.

“Some fairs around the state are urban, others rural. We are right in the middle with a nice mix of both in Greene County,” said Greene County Agricultural Society Director Dan Bullen. “We can’t wait for longtime fair goers or first timers to experience our fair, one of the oldest in the country.”

Fair goers can enjoy a variety of rides, games, food, and entertainment, such as a country concert, a pickle corn dog, and the Diaper Derby Contest.

Hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the fair located at 120 Fairground Road.

This year’s fair runs through August 4.

Gate admission is $6. Children nine and under are free with a paying adult, according to a release.

Military members with a military ID get into the fair on a discount July 30.
