Summer-like heat to arrive on Friday

DAYTON — Are you ready for some summer-like heat? We have it on the way come Friday! The Miami Valley will likely see upper 80s returning to the forecast for the first time this year and hitting 90 degrees is not out of the question.

It has been 241 days since Dayton officially recorded a temperature of 90 degrees or above. That takes us back to September 18th of last year. In 2021, Dayton recorded 18 days where the temperature was 90 degrees or warmer. This included a stretch of eight days in a row of 90-degree heat from August 22nd to August 29th.

On average, Dayton sees 14 days each year where the temperature climbs to 90 degrees or above.

The greatest number of days Dayton has hit 90 degrees or above in a year is 62. That has occurred twice, interestingly in back-to-back years from 1899 to 1900.

Our run at 90 degrees will only last one day this time. After a day in the upper 80s to near 90 on Friday, a cold front will drop temps down over the weekend.
