17-year-old hospitalized after crashing into pole in Clark County

CLARK COUNTY — A 17-year-old man was hospitalized after a car crash Friday afternoon, according to a spokesperson from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The 17-year-old, of South Charleston, failed to maintain control, drove off the road, and struck a utility pole, according to a spokesperson from the OSHP.

He was driving a 2008 GMC Sierra southbound on Dolly Varden Road in Madison Township at approximately 12:27 p.m. when the crash occurred.

The 17-year-old was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. Troopers on scene said he sustained injuries to the head.

Speed is believed to be a factor, troopers told News Center 7 crews on scene.

Alcohol is a suspected factor, but state troopers are still investigating.
