Police rescue man, 2 dogs from Sidney house fire; cause under investigation

UPDATE @ 9:45 p.m.: Investigators are working to determine the cause of a house fire on Old English Court in Sidney that caused more than $268,000 in damage.

The male occupant, rescued along with two dogs, was taken to Wilson Memorial Health for evaluation, Sidney fire officials said.

Crews from Anna and Lockington as well as off-duty Sidney firefighters were called to the stubborn fire, which took several hours to extinguish.

Heavy fire was showing through the roof of the single-story residence in the 2000 block of Old English Court when Sidney fire crews arrived. They were dispatched just after 11:30 a.m. on a report of a structure fire.

A Sidney fire official determined the property a total loss, estimating the structural damage at $168,340 and at least $100,000 to the contents.

No one was injured, fire officials said.
