Short chase ends with car crashed into Sidney building, driver arrested

SIDNEY — A driver was taken to the hospital and charges are likely to be filed in a brief chase that ended in a crash into a building on Washington Street Tuesday night.

Michael Ceyler was arrested and taken to Wilson Health in Sidney for treatment of his injuries after the crash in the 300 block of Washington, Sidney police said.

Officers said they heard tires squealing and upon investigating saw a maroon Chevrolet SUV speeding in downtown Sidney.

The short, weaving chase ended with the SUV first crashing into a parked car, before hitting the building. Ceyler was taken into custody after the crash.

Sidney police said the driver didn’t have a warrant, didn’t appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol and just sped off from the officer who attempted to stop him.

Ceyler was the only person in the car and involved in the crash. He complained of injuries when he was taken out of car, so police put him on his side to try and not cause any injuries or make any possible injuries worse.
