AURORA, IND. — At least 19 students have been injured following a crash involving a school bus and Rumpke trash truck in Aurora, Indiana, according to our news partners at WCPO-TV.

The crash was reported on State Route 350 around 8 a.m. between the bus and a Rumpke garbage truck, according to officials.

The school bus belongs to the South Dearborn Community School Corporation but was transporting students to several schools in the area, according to the station. The district confirmed students were injured and parents have been notified, the district said in a statement.
The conditions of the injured students was not immediately known.

A Rumpke spokesperson said the driver of the trash truck was not believed to be in the truck at the time of the crash and was out servicing customers in the area.
“First and foremost, our thoughts are with everyone involved in this morning’s incident,” Molly Yeager, Rumpke spokesperson said in a written statement. “We are working with the school district, the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office as well as the Indiana State Police to investigate exactly what occurred this morning.”
