The man killed has been identified as 50-year-old Shane McCann, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Officer.

A Rumpke truck driver was picking up trash at a home when a vehicle rear ended the truck, Rumpke officials said in a statement released Friday afternoon.

Two people were inside the car at the time of the crash, with at least one person suffering serious injuries, dispatch records indicate. The officer reported both people were pinned inside the car and would require a “prolonged” rescue operation, dispatchers said.

One person was pronounced dead on scene, according to Trotwood Police. A second person was transported to an area hospital.

Rumpke said their driver wasn’t injured in the crash.

A CareFlight medical helicopter was requested to the scene around 11:50 a.m., but it was later cancelled. At least three ground ambulances, and multiple other fire crews were dispatched to the scene.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone touched by today’s accident,” Randy Broadright, area safety manager at Rumpke, said. “Nothing is more important than the well-being and safety of our team and our community. We are grateful for the quick response of the emergency teams, and we will work with the responding units to conduct a thorough investigation.”
