Second victim of Bellefontaine shooting dies

BELLEFONTAINE — Anthony Scartz, who was shot multiple times on Wednesday night in Bellefontaine, has died from his injuries.

Bellefontaine Chief Standley extended his condolences to Scartz’s family.

“The tragic circumstances of Wednesday night at 601 W. Columbus Ave. has resulted in yet another death. Anthony Scartz, age 24,. passed away last evening at 6:10 p.m. at Grant Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, from injuries sustained from being shot multiple times by the three teens in this case. We will assist the Franklin County Coroner’s Office since he passed away there. Our condolences go out to the family and friends of Mr. Scartz. The Bellefontaine Police Department has worked tirelessly to put the three teens and one adult behind bars for these heinous crimes. Now, we will continue to work with the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office to be sure each of the four are held accountable for their crimes,” Standley said.

Charges are expected to be filed soon, according to a release from Bellefontaine Police

On Nov. 29, 20-year-old Austin Allen of Bellefontaine was arrested and charged with Complicity to Aggravated Robbery. Bellefontaine Police believe that Allen was with the teens who entered the home and participated in their getaway.
