Search for new Sidney Schools superintendent underway, district sets focus group sessions

John Scheu John Scheu, Sidney City Schools superintendent, announced his resignation effective July 31, 2018.

SIDNEY — The search for a new superintendent is in full swing as Sidney City Schools officials set two more focus group sessions for next week.

Superintendent John Scheu announced his resignation in April, which becomes effective July 31.

The Board of Education Thursday announced on social media that it contracted with the Ohio School Board Association to oversee the district’s search for a new superintendent.

OSBA consultant Cheryl Ryan met May 31 with staff, students and community members for a series of focus groups.

Two additional sessions are scheduled for Monday, at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. They are open to the public and will be held in the basement of the board office, 750 S. Fourth Ave., Sidney.

According to the district, participants will be asked for their thoughts and opinions in three areas:

  1. Major issues facing the district for the next three to five years
  2. Performance expectations for the next superintendent
  3. Personal and professional qualities to be sought in the next superintendent

Anyone interested in providing feedback but unable to attend may email Ryan at cryan@ohioschoolboards.org.
