WILMINGTON — An area school district has canceled classes for the second straight day.

Wilmington City Schools announced on social media they are closed today “due to significant staff illnesses.”
“We’re pretty sick here,” the school district said.
As previously reported by News Center 7, Wilmington City Schools canceled classes on Monday.

They said on Facebook Monday the decision was made, “to ensure the health and well-being” of their students and staff.
The school posted pictures Monday of crews cleaning classrooms, offices, buses/vans, and common areas on social media.
They said while cleaning helps,
“Now is a good time to refresh handwashing, sneezing, and coughing techniques with your kiddos to help stop the spread of flu in your household and in the schools,” the school district said.
