Rescue crews return to Mad River to resume search for boy missing for nearly 2 weeks

DAYTON — The search for 7-year-old Lucas Rosales resumed Thursday nearly two weeks after he went missing.

Lucas was last seen Saturday, April 29 while fishing with his family at Eastwood MetroPark.

The efforts to locate Lucas continued Thursday utilizing additional “specialty search capabilities” in several locations around the Harshman Road and Eastwood MetroParks area, Dayton Fire Assistant Chief Nicholas Hosford said in an update.

Search components included personnel and equipment from Dayton Fire, Dayton Police, Beavercreek Fire, and members from Buckeye Search and Rescue.

“Operational activities for today included land and water-based search, water-based K-9 search, and additional sonar components,” Hosford said.

Specialty search components from Buckeye Search and Rescue were utilized to include seven search dogs.

More than 100 people, including multiple rescue crews, boats, trained volunteer search groups, K-9s, have searched the areas surrounding where he was last seen.
