Submerged vehicles prompt multiple water rescues in Shelby County

SHELBY COUNTY — UPDATE @ 11:20 a.m.: 

Two drivers are safe after two different water rescues from submerged vehicles in Shelby County Friday morning.

A driver was first rescued from a pickup truck that became submerged in flood waters on Ohio 274 west of I-75 in Shelby County around 7:30 a.m.

A second driver had to be rescued from their vehicle after driving onto a flooded road on Wells Road near Harden-Wapak Road around 10:20 a.m.

Neither driver was injured but both were checked out by medics on the scene.

UPDATE @ 10:35 a.m.: 

A second water rescue is reportedly underway in Shelby County after another vehicle became submerged in high water, according to initial reports.

Crews were dispatched to the area of Wells Road near Harden-Wapak Road around 10:20 a.m. after another vehicle became submerged in water.

There have been no injuries initially reported.

Earlier a driver was rescued from a submerged vehicle on Ohio 274, just north of the most recent incident.

UPDATE @ 8:40 a.m.: 

Fire crews have rescued a driver who was trapped on top of a submerged vehicle on Ohio 274 in Shelby County, according to officials.

Water rescue crews were able to get the person off the vehicle and onto land. They are being evaluated by medics but no injuries are suspected.

The vehicle remains submerged in a field on the north side of Ohio 274.

Emergency crews are working to rescue a driver who is reportedly on top of a submerged car on Ohio 274 in Shelby County, according to initial reports.

The incident was reported on Ohio 274, west of I-75, at Wenger Road, according to emergency scanner traffic.

There have been no reports of injuries, however multiple water rescue units have been requested to the scene.
