The stolen vehicle was taken in New Carlisle and the boyfriend of the victim ended up following the stolen car before calling 911, according to police and 911 calls obtained by News Center 7.

The boyfriend of the victim called police after seeing the stolen SUV in the area of Fishburg Road and Old Troy Pike. That’s where the suspect was accused of pointing a gun at the victim, Carr said.

Huber Heights police ended up spotting the stolen SUV in the area of Rip Rap and Wagner Ford roads.

“This was an aggravated robbery and we have the propensity of violence. A gun was already pointed at somebody and the individual was fleeing actively from police,” Carr said.

Police called off the chase in the area of Needmore Road and North Dixie about a minute before the crash was reported, according to emergency dispatch traffic.

Carr said officers stopped chasing the stolen SUV, because they were going into a school zone and roads were wet from the rain.

The driver of the stolen SUV ended up being taken to the hospital with minor injuries, Carr said.

A gun that matched the description of what the victim said was pointed at him was found inside the SUV and was determined to be stolen out of Columbus, police said.

North Dixie was closed at the crash scene while crews investigated.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is handling the stolen vehicle report, Huber Heights Police are investigating the pursuit and the Ohio State Highway Patrol is handling the crash investigation, Carr said.

CORRECTION: A previous version of this story reported the stolen car crashed into the laundromat, however Huber Heights Police have corrected initial information they provided. The SUV involved in the crash was the stolen vehicle.
