Theft suspect detained after leading Huber Heights police on pursuit

HUBER HEIGHTS — UPDATE @11:28 a.m.

The driver of a vehicle involved in a suspected theft from Walmart was detained on several outstanding warrants after leading Huber Heights police on a pursuit.

The driver, who hasn’t been identified, had three outstanding warrants, including two felony warrants. The driver will also face charges of fleeing and eluding and theft, said Huber Heights Police Sgt. Charles Taylor.

Officers located the suspect vehicle following a theft from the Huber Heights Walmart. A pursuit ensued, which ended in the area of Rip Rap and Fishburg roads around 10:20 a.m.

Two people inside the vehicle then attempted to flee on foot, but were unsuccessful, Taylor said.

A large generator possibly stolen from Walmart was located in the vehicle.

The female passenger was released from custody, but could face charges.

No one was injured.

Two people, a man and a woman, have been detained in the back of police cruisers after a pursuit ended in the area of Rip Rap and Fishburg roads in Huber Heights.

Reports indicate officers are checking items found in the car to see if they were stolen from an area retail store.

FIRST REPORT

Two people have reportedly been detained following a police pursuit that ended in Huber Heights Wednesday morning.

Officers reported they were pursuing a vehicle that was not stopping around 10:20 a.m., according to police scanner traffic.

At least one person attempted to flee from the vehicle after it stopped on Rip Rap Road in Huber Heights. Reports indicate officers were able to detain two people at that scene.
