CLAY TWP., Montgomery County — A man has been identified after a fatal crash on I-70 East in Clay Township where his car went off the highway and crashed into a farm machine, according the Dayton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Police and medics responded to the crash on Sept. 12 around 5:38 p.m.
Frank P. Williams, 55, of Eaton, was driving a blue 2003 BMW East on I-70 when he drove off the right side of the road, struck a ditch, then continued driving into a farm field where he struck a piece of farm equipment.
The farm equipment was being operated by Abraham Dull, 39, of Brookville.
“We’re not sure why, at this point, why he drove off the road,” Sgt. Matt Cleaveland, Greene County Post, Ohio State Highway Patrol said. “There wasn't really any evasive action taken after he left the roadway.”
Williams was pronounced dead at the scene. Dull was not injured.
Williams was wearing a seat belt at the time of crash. It’s unknown if alcohol or drugs are involved.
Brookville Fire and EMS, Clay Township Police Department and the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office assisted at the crash that remains under investigation.
