Lockdowns lifted after reports of armed man near Franklin High School

FRANKLIN — UPDATE @ 3:40 p.m.: 

A faculty member at Franklin High School saw a person carrying what appeared to be a weapon near the school after dismissal, prompting the police investigation, school officials said in a release posted to Twitter Monday.

“The (high school) immediately went into lockdown. Everyone in the building is safe, including those participating in after-school activities,” officials said in the release.

Three other Franklin schools, Gerke Elementary, Franklin Junior High, and Hampton Bennett ECC, were also placed on lockdown.

The lockdowns at all four schools have been lifted, according to another tweet from the school district.

Lockdowns at four Franklin City Schools have been lifted after police investigated reports of a man with a gun near Franklin High School, according to Superintendent Michael Sander.

Sander said police searched the high school after the report was received, but nothing was found.

Police are investigating reports of a man with a gun near Franklin High School, according to a Facebook post from police.

“We have an unconfirmed report of a man with a gun in the area of Franklin High School,” police said in the message, posted around 3:15 p.m.

Police added that nothing has been found yet, officers are following protocol and are searching the area.
