Dayton man, 35, identified as victim of deadly pedestrian crash

DAYTON — UPDATE 8/9/20 @ 12:23 p.m.:

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office identified the victim of Saturday’s pedestrian strike on Nicholas Road.

Samuel Trammell, 35, of Dayton was killed after being struck by a vehicle.

A medical examination was done Sunday morning for further investigation. The results of the exam have not yet been released.

UPDATE @ 11:30 p.m.:

One person is dead after a pedestrian strike that occurred on Nicholas Road near Dunbar High School around 7:45 p.m. Saturday evening.

Officers arrived on scene and believed that the victim had received a gunshot wound in addition to being struck by a vehicle, but further investigation found that the victim had not received any gunshot wounds, only injuries from being struck by the vehicle, according to the Dayton Police Department.

Investigators have taken one person into custody in connection to the incident, but it is still under investigation.

UPDATE @ 9:26 p.m.:

A coroner has arrived to the scene of the pedestrian strike and shooting on Nicholas Road.

FIRST REPORT:

Investigators are currently on scene of a reported pedestrian strike and shooting near Dunbar High School on Nicholas Road.

Dispatchers say crews were called to the scene around 7:46 p.m.

The victim was reportedly struck by a vehicle and shot.

Initial reports say the suspect was seen walking off the right side of the scene.

We have a crew on scene and are working to learn the condition of the victim and if police were able to locate a suspect.
