Red flag laws: Which states have them?

Ohio could be the latest state to pass a “red flag” law aimed at keeping firearms out of the hands of people with mental illnesses.

In January, a state senator from Cleveland introduced a red flag bill and Gov. Mike DeWine has discussed supporting some version of a red flag law.

While opponents of red flag legislation say it strips away due process from people, those in favor argue that it protects people from themselves and others who are at-risk.

With more than a dozen states passing similar laws, including neighboring Indiana, News Center 7's I-Team is looking at red flag laws have worked in other states. Tune in Monday, May 20, at 5:30 p.m.
