Public Heath spraying for West Nile virus in Vandalia

VANDALIA — Public Health- Dayton & Montgomery County will be spraying the area near Pool Road and Helke Park in Vandalia with a pesticide later today as a precaution after a mosquito tested positive for the West Nile virus, according to a post on the City of Vandalia’s Facebook page.

The plan is to spray between dusk and midnight, weather permitting.

The pesticide, Duet Adulticide, poses minimal threat to human health and has been shown to be effective in controlling mosquito populations, the city said.

Portions of the following streets will be treated:

  • Pool Avenue
  • Bosco Avenue
  • Romanus Drive
  • Damian Street
  • Marcellus Drive
  • Randler Avenue
  • Hertlein Avenue
  • Neri Aveneu
  • Paula Street
  • Desales Street
  • Pius Circle
  • Helke Park
  • West Alkaline Springs Road

Signs are expected to be posted today along the route, according to the city.
