Biden departs from CVG after of visit with manufacturing leaders in Hamilton

HAMILTON — President Joe Biden has wrapped up his trip to visit with manufacturing leaders in Southwest Ohio.

Biden visited United Performance Metals in Hamilton.

United Performance Metals has facilities all over the world but they are headquartered in Butler County.

They make metals for industries like oil and gas, semiconductors, aerospace and more.

Biden came along with both of Ohio’s senators, Republican Rob Portman and Democrat Sherrod Brown, to stump for what they’re calling the “Bipartisan Innovation Act.”

They said if congress passes this bill, it would provide money to make more technology like semiconductors here in the United States.

These products have suffered shortages in the supply chain, they go into everything from phones to cars.

Biden also talked about how he said this bill would impact Ohioans, other Americans and their families.

“For the folks at home, asking why it matters I know you’re concerned about high gas prices, making more things in America,” Biden said during his speech.

Opinions were mixed on Biden’s appearance in Hamilton.

Protesters waited outside the entrance to the business, News Center 7′s John Bedell spoke to those in attendance and asked what they would say to the president if they could talk to him.

One man said he has concerns about the current economic climate under the Biden administration.

“I’m concerned about the high prices now. So if he can do something about the high rising prices of the foodstuffs and gas and all that, that would be better by controlling the inflation, that would be better,” he said.

News Center 7 reached out to Ohio U.S. Senate Republican Nominee J.D. Vance.

Vance won the primary and is a Butler County native, he was born in Middletown.

“It is impossible to overstate that this is the worst economy of my lifetime thanks to Biden’s disastrous policies. People are struggling to provide for their families and put food on the table due to inflation driven by Biden’s spending and energy policies. It is crazy that we are now a year into Biden’s Administration and the repercussions are obvious,” Vance said in a statement

This is the president’s fifth visit to Ohio.
