PREBLE COUNTY — Preble Shawnee Local Schools reported three confirmed cases of COVID-19 involving students at the Junior/Senior High School, according to a letter from the district.

The announcement comes as the district’s playoff football game scheduled against Versailles was canceled. Versailles advanced in the playoffs due to the cancellation, according to the Ohio High School Athletic Association.

The district has not said if any of the COVID-19 cases caused the cancellation of the game.

“Cleaning and disinfecting of the exposed location will be completed,” the district’s superintendent wrote in a letter. “Preble Shawnee Jr/Sr High School will remain OPEN at this time. We are working closely with Preble County Public Health and anyone identified as a close contact will be notified by the school district and/or the health department as a part of COVID-19 contract tracing.”

The district also reported a positive case of COVID-19 involving a staff member on Wednesday, however there were no close contacts identified with that case, the district said.
