UPDATE: Power outages in Kettering dwindle to less than 100 customers, AES Ohio map indicates

KETTERING — UPDATE @ 10:15 p.m.: The number of reported outages in Kettering tonight has dwindled to less than 100, according to the AES Ohio online outage map.

As many as 87 of the reports appear to be coming from an area east of state Route 835 and just southeast of Research Boulevard, according to the map.

A power outage tonight in Oakwood and Kettering is affecting an estimated 2,380 AES Ohio customers.

A circuit dropped at a substation on Dorothy Lane and crews are investigating to pinpoint the problem, said Mary Ann Kabel, AES Ohio director of corporate communications.

Customers began reporting outages about 8:11 p.m., according to the utility’s online outage map.

AES Ohio is estimating that electric service will be restored about 10 p.m., but Kabel said crews are working to restore service as safely and as quickly as possible.
