Power boat racer killed in weekend crash at Champions Park Lake in Clark County

SPRINGFIELD TWP., Clark County — A power boat racer was killed and two other competitors were injured in crash at the Wake the Lake competition at Champions Park Lake in Clark County this weekend, according to the American Power Boat Association.

Tracy Hawkins, a competitor from Texas, died in a crash during a competition, the APBA sanctioning body said in a message posted to social media.

Two other competitors involved in the incident, identified as Fred Durr and Dylan Anderson, were also injured but only sustained minor bruises, an APBA spokesperson said in the message.

Additional details about the crash and investigation were not available.

Organizers for the Wake the Lake event were not immediately available for comment.
