Portion of Dayton street blocked for repairs to ruptured natural gas line

DAYTON — A portion of Salem Avenue will be shut down in Dayton into the early afternoon for crews to repair a ruptured natural gas line.

The gas leak was first reported in the 800 block of Salem Avenue around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The ruptured line was in a stretch of Salem Avenue that already had lane restrictions due to roadwork.

Crews estimate Salem Avenue will be shut down near Harvard Boulevard until 3 p.m. for repairs to be made.

No homes were evacuated and no injuries were reported.
