Police in 2020 respond 18 times to Dayton apartment where 2 men were shot, killed last week

DAYTON — Even before two men were shot and killed at a South Euclid Avenue apartment last week, police had responded to the address 18 times since Jan. 1 for a variety of issues.

In several Dayton police reports, police said the address was known as a hangout where people drank alcohol and smoked illegal drugs. It also was known for gunfire and disturbances, according to the reports.

>> UPDATE: 2 victims shot at Dayton apartment Wednesday have died

Dayton police reports show that a half dozen or more weapons have been seized from the apartment this year.

Officers responded to the apartment Wednesday, Aug. 5, about 10 p.m.

Both Darryl Guy Jr. and Chrishawn Perkins, both 25, were identified as the victims who died in the gunfire.

Perkins was pronounced dead at the apartment and Guy later died at Miami Valley Hospital, according to Dr. Kent Harshbarger, Montgomery County coroner.

UPDATE (Aug. 12): Dayton police said they don’t believe anyone else is involved in the shooting.

“It’s been reported publicly that there was a third person involved these shooting deaths,” Dayton police Sgt. Mike Godsey said.

“At this point in the investigation, detectives have no reason to believe there was anyone else involved in the deaths of Chrishawn Perkins and Darryl Guy. Detectives are currently awaiting lab results to confirm these beliefs,” Godsey said.
