UPDATE: At least 1 taken to hospital, 2 in custody after shooting in Xenia

XENIA — One person was taken to the hospital and two others were taken into custody after a shooting in Xenia Monday.

Around 2:30 p.m. crews were called to the 2000 block of Alabama Drive to reports of an accidental shooting.

When officers arrived on the scene they found a 17-year-old with a gunshot wound to the left knee, according to a media release.

He was taken to Miami Valley Hospital for further treatment.

Witnesses told police that the suspect was a 16-year-old male. He was taken into custody and booked into the Greene County Juvenile Detention Center.

He is facing felonious assault charges, according to a release.

Another 18-year-old man was said to be present for the shooting and was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun.

He was booked into jail for a charge of carrying a concealed weapon.

Our crew also reported seeing crime scene tape in the 400 block of East Second Street. Dispatchers previously told News Center 7 that shooting also took place at this location and someone was taken to the hospital from the scene.

Information about this reported shooting and a possible second victim was not included in the release.

We are working to learn more information and clarify if the two scenes were connected.
