Demieko Hairston's body was discovered around 11:30 a.m. Friday by a passerby. On Saturday, police confirmed Hairston’s death was suspicious, and today detectives revealed that Hairston had been shot and burned.

Police are are interviewing his family and working to track his movements before he died, Dayton police Lt.  Andrew Booher said.

Officers also recovered Hairston's car on Parkwood Avenue, Booher said.

"We're processing the vehicle now to see if there's any evidence we can get from that," he said.

Police believe it is possible Hairston was killed elsewhere and left at the park.

"There's a good chance this may have occurred somewhere else and then the body dropped off there," said Booher during a Monday afternoon press conference.
