KETTERING — A local elementary school was under a brief shelter-in-place after receiving a ‘vague and threatening call’ on Monday.

Kettering City Schools shared on social media that around 11:39 a.m., the main office at Beavertown Elementary School received a “vague and threatening call.”

School staff contacted the Kettering Police Department and put the school into a Shelter-In-Place Safety protocol.
“Beavertown entered a Shelter-in-Place out of an abundance of caution after a vague phone call was received in the main office,” the district said in the social media post.
Kettering Police officers responded and determined the call was not credible.
Officers also checked both the inner and outer perimeter of the building as an extra precaution.
The Shelter-In-Place was lifted around noon.
“Our staff and students did an incredible job remaining calm during this brief disruption. We want to thank our entire school community for their patience and cooperation, which allowed law enforcement to assess the situation quickly and effectively. The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority at all times.
