HUBER HEIGHTS — A 19-year-old Huber Heights man was shot to death early Monday and police have asked the public for help in tracking down a man seen leaving the homicide in a car:
UPDATE @ 11:13 p.m. (May 28): The results of an autopsy on 19-year-old Sorin Farcas are weeks away, a Montgomery County Coroner's Office official said tonight.
Meantime, Huber Heights police have not said anything more about the suspect in the fatal shooting of the Sinclair Community College student found early Monday in the garage of a home in the 7300 block of Charnwood Drive.
Sgt. Brad Reaman said a witness and Farcas were in the garage when a male approached. Fracas was shot once during or after an altercation.
Fracas was pronounced dead about 10 minutes after police arrived, the sergeant said.
A male wearing a red hoodie left the scene in car, Reaman said.
Fracas' father said his son was a student at Sinclair. He also said an older son is due to return home next week from military duty.
Neighbors, who asked not to be identified by name, said the homicide makes Memorial Day difficult to celebrate.
"We are thinking about our freedoms," said one. "We are thinking about people who died for our freedoms we enjoy. Somebody's life will be needlessly taken away."
The sergeant described the neighborhood as a quiet one and raised a concern that the Charnwood Drive homicide is the fourth violent crime call in Huber Heights in the last 10 days.
