Piqua man threatens to kill former co-workers

A Piqua man accused of making a bomb threat and threatened to shoot several former co-workers entered a not guilty plea Friday morning in Miami County court.

Shane Herbert, 22, pleaded not guilty to charges of inducing panic and aggravated menacing in Miami County Municipal Court.

Herbert threatened to kill his former co-workers at the A.M. Leonard Co. in Piqua Thursday morning, according to Piqua police. Employees held down Herbert until police arrived.

Herbert was found unarmed and no bomb was found in his vehicle.

He is being held on a $7,500 bond and was ordered to undergo mental evaluation.

Herbert was employed at A.M. Leonard Co. from October 25 to December 1. An apology was offered by Herbert during his arraignment stating he was “highly intoxicated” at the time, according to Piqua police.
