Overnight high winds blow down trees, damage power lines across Miami Valley

UPDATE 11:30 a.m.: 

As high winds blew through the area overnight, damage reports of downed trees and power lines have come in from across the Miami Valley.

The high winds left thousands without power Monday morning.

In Sugarcreek Twp., crews are working on damaged power lines along Waynesville Road near the intersection of Centerville Road.

A gust of wind blew a trampoline into the middle of the 700 block of Trade Square West in Troy early Monday morning.

First Report:

One tree fell and crushed a car on Fountain Avenue in Springfield early Monday morning, and road crews used chainsaws to break up and remove it.

On Sunset Avenue in Springfield, a large tree broke and fell on a driveway.

Around 4 a.m., a tree fell on a home along the 600 block of South Columbus Street in Xenia. No one was reportedly injured.

In Huber Heights, residents have posted pictures on social media of trampolines wrapped around trees or caught in power lines.

The Walmart in Moraine put a sign on its doors stating the store is without power and would remain closed until power is restored.

Further east, a tree fell on a house in Mechanicsburg along South Locust Street, causing significant damage.
