Overdose Awareness Day to be recognized in Logan and Champaign Counties

BELLEFONTAINE — The Community Health & Wellness Partners will be hosting events today to recognize International Overdose Awareness Day in Logan and Champaign Counties, according to a news release.

The event will take place at four CHWP Health Centers including:

  • Bellefontaine, 121 E. Columbus Ave., Suite 1
  • West Liberty, 4879 US Rt. 68 South
  • Indian Lake, 8200 St. Rt. 366, Suite 1, Russells Point
  • Urbana, 605 Miami Street, Suite 100

The CHWP staff will wear purple ribbons to raise awareness and reduce the stigma of drug-related deaths or injuries, the release said.

In addition, Narcan Rescue kits, Deterra medication disposal bags and medication lockboxes will be also be available.

Provisional estimates indicate over 80,000 overdose deaths involving opioids occurred in the United States in 2021, the release said.
