MERCER COUNTY — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is partnering with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office to hold a traffic enforcement detail this week.

Starting today, May 1, enforcement details will be focusing on stop sign violations.

The detail will be active from May 1 through May 3, according to a release from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.

Lt. John Westerfield from the Ohio State Highway Patrol is leading the effort to keep Mercer County safe. They’ll be sending troopers to the area on specific dates, both on the roads and in the air.

The OSHP Aviation Unit will also be helping out.

Despite increasing patrols in areas with high traffic complaints and crash rates, the Sheriff’s Office is still receiving reports of traffic violations happening across Mercer County.

Drivers are encouraged to limit the distractions within their vehicles and focus on the road.
