Teen charged in weekend Dayton homicide; police say argument led to gunfire

DAYTON — An 18-year-old is facing charges in the murder of another 18-year-old who was found fatally shot in Dayton over the weekend, according to police.

Dwayne Jones Jr. was charged on Tuesday with two counts of murder and two counts of felonious assault, according to court records.

Kameron Dewberry, 18, was found shot and lying in the street at the corner of West Hudson Avenue near Rustic Road around 12:30 a.m. Saturday. He was transported to Miami Valley Hospital where he later died from his injuries, according to a Dayton police spokesperson.

Dwayne Jones Jr. was later identified as a suspect in the shooting. Police located and arrested him Saturday night. He faced a preliminary charge of murder and was booked in the Montgomery County Jail Monday afternoon.

The initial police investigation found the shooting resulted in an argument that escalated into gunfire, according to investigators.

Jones’s bond was set at $1 million.
