Centerville, Tri-Village boys basketball teams fall at OHSAA Tournament

MIAMI VALLEY — Its a tough day for the Miami Valley basketball fans after two local high school basketball teams lost in the Ohio High School Athletic Association state tournament.

The Tri-Village Patriots fell short of bringing home their first Division IV state title since 2015.

13 points from Layne Sarver wasn’t enough to pull out a win against Richmond Heights.

The Patriots will finish the season 26-5. The final score of the Divison IV championship was 50-29.

Another Miami Valley team, the Centerville Elks, ended their winning streak tonight.

The defending state champs fought right up until the final buzzer but fell to Pickerington Central.

The final score was 55-48.

This will be only the third time the Elks have scored less than 50 points in a game.

Indiana commits Gabe Cupps led the Elks in scoring with 14 points.
