OHIO — The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles has issued a warning about a fraudulent text request scam asking people to update their BMV Profile.

Clicking the link in the text message will direct the recipient to a spoofed BMV website where the recipient will be prompted to enter their identifying information and ultimately upload their identification documents, according to the BMV.

The BMV says the text message and spoofed website include a web extension not consistent with the Ohio BMV website.

For more information, the public can contact the Ohio BMV at (844) 644-6268 or by visiting bmv.ohio.gov.
