Ohio-based potato chip company breathing new life into Mikesell’s

ZANESVILLE — Less than two weeks after announcing it would be closing its doors, Mikesell’s brand has been bought.

Conn’s Potato Chip Company announced Monday that its subsidiary “obtained a license to the brand associated with Mikesell’s snack food products.”

Production Mikesell’s branded products will begin production from Conn’s Zanesville facility, effective immediately.

Jonathan George, owner and president of Conn’s, said the company was excited about the opportunity.

“The licensing agreement will allow us to use the decades old recipes and traditions of Mikesell’s to continue to deliver the quality snack food products consumers have come to expect and enjoy, especially the loyal fans of Mikesell’s products. This opportunity is a perfect fit with our processes and regional presence,” George said in a release.

Mikesell’s announced that they would be closing their doors on Feb. 1. In a statement, a spokesperson said the company intended to “transition all Mikesell’s brand and IP rights to another quality snack food manufacturer.”
