Officials respond to reported shooting in Greenville

GREENVILLE — UPDATED @ 11:31 a.m.:

Shots fired late Wednesday night in Greenville stemmed from an altercation after a subject noticed people messing with his vehicle, according to Greenville police.

A man in the 200 block of Anderson Avenue noticed a group tampering with his vehicle and chased them to Riffle Avenue, according to Greenville police.

During a brief altercation, one round was fired from a handgun.

Initial reports indicated that a person was shot in the shoulder, but police said there was no evidence of a gunshot wound.

Medical personnel were called to the scene, but no medical attention was needed.

Police and a medic unit were dispatched on a report of a shooting in the 200 block of Anderson Avenue in Greenville.
