Officers, bystanders step in after motorcyclist hit by car in Miami Twp.

MIAMI TOWNSHIP — Miami Township officers and bystanders stepped in to help after a motorcyclist was hit by a car Sunday.

Miami Township officers were called to the crash in front of the Target on Miamisburg Centerville Road and found multiple bystanders already helping the motorcyclist who was on the ground, according to a post by Miami Township Police Department on social media.

Police said the motorcyclist was suffering from an “extensive leg injury” and profusely bleeding.

Officer Liam Foley and Officer Ian Dalton helped stop the bleeding by applying a tourniquet and an emergency bandage, the police department said.

The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

“Thank you everyone for helping in this dire situation!” The department wrote in the post.

Both officers are fairly new to the force with Dalton sworn into the force in August 2022 and Foley in March 2022.

The identity of the man injured and further information about the crash were not included in the social media post.
