Newton bus driver gets special sendoff after nearly 50 years of transporting students

PLEASANT HILL, Miami County — As the school year wraps up at the Newton School District in Pleasant Hill, so does the bus-driving career of Paige Johnson.

She retires after 49 years as a bus driver, 46 of those years at Newton.

Teachers and staff stayed after school today to await Johnson’s return after her final trip with the students. She was teary-eyed when she said Newton bus drivers “are the best in Miami County.”
