Kettering police were dispatched to reports of shots fired in the area of Renwood Drive and E. David Road around 9:30 p.m., according to a spokesperson for the Kettering Police Department.

Police arrived in the area and located a duplex in the 4400 block of Renwood Dr. that had been struck by “multiple rounds of gunfire,” the spokesperson said.

Officers made contact with the people living in both homes and no injuries were reported.

It is believed that between 15 to 20 rounds were shot at the house, according to Kettering Police.

News Center 7′s Brandon Lewis reports Kettering Police is now trying to figure out how many people were involved in the shooting and if the suspect or suspects were in a car or walking.

Officers and detectives want to make one thing clear.

“We believe that this was a targeted incident, not just a random act of violence,” said Tyler Johnson, Kettering Police Public Information Officer. “Even though we do believe that we will be increasing patrols especially in that area during the duration of this investigation.”

A white sedan could possibly be connected to the incident, Johnson told Lewis.

“So far witnesses have stated that there’s a possibly of a white sedan in the area at the time, whether or not shots were fired inside or outside the vehicle, if that vehicle was even associated,” he said. “We just ask that if anybody has any information they think could be connected to this incident to contact Detective Paulin here at the police department.”
