Fire breaks out in Greenville multi-family home

GREENVILLE — UPDATE @ 4:50 a.m.:

The fire in a multi-family home on Chestnut Street in Greenville is now out.

According to fire officials on the scene, this was an accidental electrical fire in the rear of the structure, and the families that live in the front of the house were already outside when they saw the smoke.

Officials also said that the fire was contained pretty quickly.

INITIAL REPORT:

Multiple fire crews are responding to a report of a structure fire near the intersection of Bickel Hill Street and Chestnut Street in Greenville.

Initial reports said that everyone is out of the structure, but that the first crew on scene upgraded the fire to a two-alarm fire, meaning it is large and more difficult to contain.
