As News Center 7 previously reported, iWitness7 viewers sent us videos of drones spotted in Darke and Mercer Counties.
A Darke County Sheriff’s sergeant told News Center 7 they are working to learn more about these reports.
Timmerman said the sightings have mainly been in the western part of the county flying over farms, villages, and farms.
“We’ll get the occasional low-flying aircraft or whatever, call once in a blue moon, but not this amount of calls at. So, yeah, this is this is a first for us,” he said.
Timmerman even said that as many as five drones were spotted at once.
News Center 7 asked if this had anything to do with the recent attention on these counties because of the recent bird flu uptick.
“Yeah, you know, and that certainly has caused us some concern. You know, we’ve thought about that. Right now, we have no way of proving anything like that. But it’s certainly something that’s been brought to our attention that we’re going to be paying very close attention to,” said Timmerman.
The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office is working with the FBI to learn more information. As of now, they do not believe it is connected to the drones spotted at Wright Patterson Air Force Base last month.
News Center 7 will update this story.
