3-month-old girl dies from fractured skull, Sidney man charged

SIDNEY — A Sidney man is facing preliminary charges of child endangering after a 3-month-old girl died Saturday after suffering a fractured skull, according to police.

The child, Daphney M. Jackson, was found unresponsive and not breathing at a home in the 500 block of South Main Street in Sidney Saturday afternoon, Sidney police Capt. J A Tangeman said in a media release Tuesday.

Jackson was transported by medics to Wilson Memorial Hospital where she later was pronounced dead.

The Shelby County Coroner’s Office determined Jackson’s death was caused by a fractured skull, police said in the media release.

Ian M. Timmons, 21, was arrested Monday on a preliminary charge of child endangering.

Other charges are pending and under review by the Shelby County Prosecutor’s Office, police said.

Timmons was placed in the Shelby County Jail Monday but was not listed as an inmate in the jail Tuesday morning.
