Montgomery County commissioners authorize emergency bridge closure due to unsafe conditions

JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP — A bridge in Montgomery County was ordered to close immediately after county leaders learned of structural concerns.

The Board of County Commissioners authorized the emergency closure of a bridge on Huffman Road in Jefferson Twp. near Bear Creek.

During a BCC meeting Tuesday, commissioners announced that the authorization was a late item that had been added to the meeting’s agenda.

Commissioner’s said there are structural concerns and possibly some hidden damage, so the bridge will be closed for further inspection.

We are working to learn if a plan to repair the bridge is underway in addition to how long the bridge may be closed.
