Miami Valley Winter Restaurant Week: Here’s where food lovers can eat out for a good cause

MIAMI VALLEY — It’s Winter Restaurant Week in the Miami Valley, and with the industry hit hard by the pandemic, restaurants are hoping you grab your wallet and join them for a night out.

With more then 20 local restaurants participating this year, you can have your pick at just the right meal at a discounted price with a portion of the sale going to local charities.

News Center 7 spoke with a manager at Wheat Penny in Dayton, Liz Valenti, about what she’s looking forward to this week and also the charity they hope to help.

Valenti said a dollar from every meal that is served at Wheat Penny all week is going to charity.

“This year we’ve chosen our restaurant the Miami Valley Restaurant Association Scholarship Fund as well as the Miami Valley Down Syndrome Fund,” Valenti said.

For those who don’t want to brave the cold temperatures this week or still have concerns about the pandemic—many of the participating locations are offering to-go options.

“Many of the restaurants are offering to carry out as well, which is a great way to partake in restaurant week without coming into the restaurant,” Valenti said.

In keeping with the annual tradition of marking the new year, some meals will be $20.22, but each restaurant has a different way of approaching the pricing.

Restaurant Week runs from January 23rd through January 30th.
